Cuba Solidarity Protests in Beverly Hills

A crowd of well-over 100 protesters gathered in Beverly Gardens Park on July 17 to stand, sing, and chant in solidarity with protesters in Cuba. The protests, provoked by food and medicine shortages, represent a rare moment in a country quick to silent dissent. “People are being killed, people are being prosecuted and ending up in jail for just speaking up,” Yisel Pupo, who is from Cuba but now lives in Los Angeles, told the Courier. “Is that right? Is that just? No, so I’m here supporting them.”
