These past weeks have been filled with heightened fear about AI and the many ways it could end humanity. While the doomsday scenarios—and ongoing debate over regulation—deserve attention, there are additional imminent risks we must consider. AI can powerfully impact our brains, and not all the results will be positive.
As AI appears to be here to stay, we must learn to build an AI-resilient brain: one that can use these tools while preserving the abilities, memory, and capacity for reflection that make us who we are. We must build that resilience in ourselves and teach it to those who are most vulnerable, our children.
