A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Feb. 23 denied City Councilmember John Mirisch’s petition for writ of mandate to compel the city of Beverly Hills clerk’s office to accept his nomination papers for the June 2 municipal election.
Calling the law “crystal clear,” Judge Lisa K. Sepe-Wiesenfeld determined that the Beverly Hills Municipal Code (BHMC) 2-1-21, which limits councilmembers to three lifetime terms, applies to all terms served, including terms served before the ordinance was enacted in 2022.
