A lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Aug. 31 alleges that an ordinance enacted by the Beverly Hills City Council banning rentals of less than one year violates the U.S. and California Constitutions and California law.
The lawsuit was filed by the Beverly Hills Vacation Rental Alliance, described in the complaint as, “an unincorporated community association created in 2025 to advocate for policies that support local property owners and protect the availability of flexible and diverse housing accommodations in the City of Beverly Hills.” Its members include homeowners who rented out their properties prior to the adoption of the ordinance.
