Commission Discusses New Turf Regulations

The Beverly Hills Planning Commission at its Oct. 22 meeting discussed the implementation of Assembly Bill 1572 (AB1572), a state law that prohibits the use of potable water to irrigate nonfunctional turf (NFT) on certain nonresidential properties.

According to a report prepared by city staff, NFT refers to turf that does not serve a recreational or community purpose. AB1572 does not apply to residential properties; rather, it applies to commercial, institutional and industrial properties.
