The Beverly Hills City Council at its Aug. 11 meeting moved forward with an ordinance to amend the city's municipal code to reduce speed limits on a wide swath of streets throughout the city. 

Students, teachers and staff at the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) returned for the 2026-2027 school year on Aug. 12. 

Max Subin was sworn in as the new police chief on Aug. 10 at Beverly Hills City Hall after serving 27 years with the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD).

I just can’t seem to get ahead. Well, that’s not entirely true because I watched several of these long enough ago that I had to do a quick refresher.

The jury trial in a lawsuit filed against the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) and the BHUSD Board of Education by Laura Collins-Williams, the former assistant superintendent for student services, has been continued until Oct. 12 to allow the parties to explore mediation. 

The Restaurant Subcommittee of the Architectural and Design Review Commission approved various architectural reviews for facade remodels and business identification signs at its special meeting on Aug. 5.

The Beverly Hills City Council rejected a proposed microtransit pilot program at its Aug. 4 study session.

Hosted by the city and the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD), the annual event is part of a nationwide effort to promote partnerships and community between police and the neighborhoods they serve and protect. 

“Late Fame” is a small movie with an oversized punch, an Academy Award-worthy performance by Willem Dafoe and an engaging script by Samy Burch, a former casting director whose first screenplay, “May-December,” was nominated for an Oscar.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath addressed the Aug. 3 Rotary Club of Beverly Hills luncheon, discussing topics ranging from homelessness to the new county executive position, emergency management and affordability.
